Problem Description

It is important to write a detailed story base on your interview; you must do it in a attractive and clear way; this is due for two reasons:

1. Your story must be appealing in order to make people feel interested about it.

2. You should include in your story relevant details related to the creation of the database.

Below is an example of how the problem should be written.

Music Collection Database

Mr. Jose Abelardo Figueroa, Engell’s father in law, grew up surrounded by music. His father and grandfather played guitar and they taught him as well. But it wasn’t only guitar lessons, they transmitted him their passion for music.

They used to have a lot of vinyl records of all genres and different performers. Nowadays, Mr. Jose Abelardo has a big music collection; he has been buying CD’s for several years. His music collection goes from classical to jazz, rock n roll to ballads and more.

Currently, he has an organizing problem. During the time he has been acquiring music, he never worried about organizing those CD’s and records. Whenever he wants to listen to one, it takes him a great amount of time to find it because of the lack of order.

Mr. Figueroa said that he wanted to have some information related to each of the CD’s. It should include the name of the CD, the artist name, the name of the song, the album name, songwriter, the music compositor and the production company.

 Mr. Figueroa would like our team to make a database of his CD’s; he would like to be able to find any CD in a fast way since he doesn’t remember all the singers name or discs names. Because the different types of CD’s he asked us to include different categories to search for:

• Genre
• Artist 
•  Album
• Song
• Lyrics author
• Year

He would also like to have the cover of each album digitalized, some pictures of the singer or band and, if possible, to link the pictures to the official website of singer or band, in addition to that he would like to include in the database either the lyrics to each song or a link to the information. He also said it would be nice to have all the official videos that exist of the songs that he has. Mr. Figueroa has a list of songs that are very special to him because whenever he listens to them he remembers someone or a specific time in his life. In consequence he has asked us to have a specific section for those songs.  Moreover, he would like the database to create a space in which he could enter some notes of the songs.

In addition, he would like to have a user and a password to access his database so the database would be private and secure.

Mr. Figueroa asked us to make a database that looks elegant, with bluish colors for the background. He is very specific about the font size and style; Times New Roman 12 or 14. He wants something legible.

Finally, he mentioned that he wanted the database to be easy to use and update, since he plans on buying more CD’s and as he does, he would like to be able to enter that data in his music collection database.
